Gaia Corporation
The year is 2023 and J. Paul Neeley, a designer & creative consultant is sharing a presentation on his work at Gaia Corporation. Through the presentation we learn about Gaia Corporation’s mission to act as stewards of the earth’s intellectual property, to promote and protect bio diversity, and to manage synthetic biological risk. We learn about their views and understanding of biological value, the symmetry of invention & evolution, and review a case study of a collaboration between a major corporation & Gaia where Gaia helped generate new value for through the licensing of an evolved genome as chassis that was genetically modified to create a new product. We learn about what the future holds for Gaia Corporation and discuss issues of DIY synthetic biology, new element & chemical product lines, and a movement towards total bio measurement. The presentation closes with Neeley addressing questions from the audience about the work at Gaia Corporation and issues of synthetic biology.
