Possibilities

"If this is the best of all possible worlds, what are the others?" -Voltaire, Candide, Chapter 6

What if one could see all the possibilities of any moment? How do we make choices when the decision set is infinite?

We create our future by making choices in every moment of our lives, revealing, step-by-step what we will become. The possibilities of every moment in reality are infinite, however our view and understanding of these possible worlds and directions is often quite limited. We select from very small decision sets created by custom, culture, law, religion, language, fashion, etiquette, and on and on. We fail and are ill-equipped to understand the possibilities before us, and the power and purpose of our choices.

Part 1 // In this example we explore the possibilities of something as banal as the wearing of a belt. What if there was no fashion dictate, how would we approach such an item? Can we see all possibilities of a thing in a moment?

Part 2 // Daniel is a superhero. He sees all possibilities. While a powerful gift, it is also debilitating. How can he enjoy a Sunday morning in bed, when the trillions of other ways the time could be spent move through his mind? In this short film Daniel composes a message to his girlfriend using simple tools and templates to guide his attention and make such a task possible. We also learn of how his love of another helps to declare his path through the infinite, and we begin to contemplate the value of constraints.
