Red Planet

What does space travel and life on Mars look like in 2050? Red Planet looks at current political, economic, and social climates driving space exploration and creates a speculative future. This project proposes that only one nation has the resources, engineering and manufacturing prowess, scale, and speed to realize the world's hopes for a populated Mars. But it won't happen in the way we might expect. On October 1st, 2049, on the Centennial of the founding of the Peoples Republic, China announces they are leaving Earth for Mars. Tired of squabbling over the earths meager and now depleted resources, China bids fairwell and begins preperation to take its entire population to Mars for a new beginning.
