Thinking With Others

In a very near future, advances in neuroscience, optogenetics, and related fields will allow for the reading and writing of information directly to the brain.

This short film, “Thinking with Others,” explores the emerging etiquettes and implications of mind reading/writing technologies and behavioral scripting on the human condition. In the film three women in different locations carry on a conversation in their minds while interacting with/disconnecting from the outside world. During their interaction the boyfriend of one of the girls arrives and the three wonder together about the appropriateness of thinking together and human scripting during such moments. As the call ends each goes back to their own lives, and as they do we learn of the boyfriend's questionable use of scripts.
